2008 Spring Technical Seminar – “Gas Isn’t Only Natural”
This year’s NZIGE Spring Technical Seminar is at Rydges Hotel, 272 Fenton Street, Rotorua, with presentations covering a wide range of topics endorsing the theme that “Gas isn’t only natural”.
The seminar provides an excellent opportunity to learn more about current issues, new technologies and trends emerging from within New Zealand and internationally. As with previous years, delegates will have the opportunity to view a variety of trade displays, with suppliers available to answer any questions.
The NZIGE AGM and seminar dinner will be held at the Rydges Rotorua on the Monday evening and our guest speaker will be Robert Murray, President of IGEM.
The site visits include the biomass fired cogeneration plant at the Red Stag Timber Waipa Mill and the Lockwood EcoSmart Showhome, both located within Rotorua City.

Gas Metering & Measurement Training Workshop (High Pressure Systems)
NZIGE has organised an "Gas metering & measurement training workshop (high pressure systems)" to be held in New Plymouth on Wednesday 17 September 2008 and facilitated by CEESI .
The facilitator will be Steve Caldwell from Colorado Engineering Experiment Station Inc. (CEESI), USA who, if you attended last year’s seminar, you may remember gave a presentation on “Metering Testing and Developments”. The timing of the workshop has been aligned with the 2008 NZIGE Spring Technical Seminar which Steve will be again attending.
If you have any questions or require further information about the workshop please contact Peter Roodbeen at (06) 759 6522 or

'Lamp Light to Natural Gas' - A history of NZIGE and
the NZ Gas Industry
This very informative and detailed book was researched and written
by Albert Veart and published by NZIGE after his death in 1999.
This is a great collection of valuable information about the history
of the industry from the very early coal gas days through to the
modern deregulated industry that may have otherwise been lost.
Copies of Alberts book are available from NZIGE at a cost of $20
each. Please contact Greg O’Malley (06) 349 0136 or by email to
should you be interested in purchasing a copy.
