The New Zealand Institution of Gas Engineers
is the only New Zealand based technical organisation which serves people, employed in the Gas Industry and the large number of related support industries.

In addition to its technically qualified engineering members, the NZIGE has encouraged growth in the representation of its Associate membership from people employed in the gas appliance, manufacturing, sales, installation and servicing sectors.

The NZIGE is an incorporated society and in 1996 became one of the nineteen technical groups of the Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ). These specialise in particular engineering and technology disciplines.

The Institution is involved in the preparation of Codes and Standards, organises a programme of technical workshops and seminars, publishes technical papers for discussion, and from time to time nominates members for overseas training programmes and seminars.
